How to Pass the Google Advertising Professional Exam

The Google Advertising Professional Exam can be a tough one. There are plenty of reasons to take it, if for no other reason to assure yourself that you are getting the most out of your Adwords campaign.

Here are some tips to ensure that your $50 is well spent.

Run an Adwords campaign. The best thing you can do is familiarize yourself with the interface and concept. Look at every tool, every screen as well as every link. Even if you think it’s something you never think you’ll use. Pay attention to names of screens, menus and tools.

Go to the Learning Center http://www.google.com/adwords/learningcenter/. Google has done a great job to help you pass the test. They have created the Adwords Learning Center. They have multimedia and text lessons to help you study for the exam.

* Watch the videos. Make sure you go thru all of the multimedia videos.
* Print and read the text lessons. Print all of the text lessons. Print them double sided if you can. Put these in a 3 ring binder and read thru them at least one time. Highlight important information. Create chapters for each section of the book. Make it easy to find a section quick.
* Take the quizes. The learning center has quizes you can take for each category. Keep in mind you need 75% to pass. Study the areas you don’t do well in.

Be ready. Once you feel you have a decent grasp of all the concepts and are familiar with all interface items and names, you’re probably ready.

Multiple choice. Just like in high school, we all loved multiple choice tests. Use this to your advantage. Rule out incorrect answers first and pick from what’s left. There are a few “pick 3 items” questions, but not too many. With those, just try to look for the incorrect answer first.

Use resources. Remember that 3 ring binder you made, with the easy to access sections? Also, have access to your adwords account ready in case you need to access it.

Pretend it’s your money. Think of each question, like “If this was my campaign..” Just apply what you already know from your own campaigns.

Use the Review Later checkboxes. Each question has a check box in the upper right hand corner. Any question you are not 100% sure about, check the box. Then after you’ve answered everything, go back and review these questions.

That’s about it. Study and be ready. Arm yourself with good old fashioned knowledge and experience and you should have no problem passing. Good luck!

If you go through all the

If you go through all the learning center tutorial’s and quizzes over the period of a week (so it sinks in), and let one extra day for some revision, you ought to pass. I did today :-)

But I have to say that a few of the questions are poorly formulated and ambiguous as you will have to assume things. I even had a question stating “select two” and then only had the options of radio buttons (which only allows one selection).
