Making Your Blog Spider Friendly

When creating your blog, keep in mind that you want to make things easy for the search engines. The first thing you should do is place all of your Javascript and CSS in external files. Doing so will remove excess code from your blog and will make the search engines happier.

Stay away from using tables. Use style sheets instead. Using tables clutters up your blog with code. Your goal is to make your site as easy to read as possible. Remember, your not creating your blog just for users, you are creating it for the search engines as well.

You want all of your code error free and clean. You don’t want the search engines getting stuck or just plain giving up on your code.

You also want your keyword rich text as close to the top of your code as possible. This might be challenging, sometimes your sidebar or header will appear first. Play around with different layouts or templates, a little juggling never hurts.

If you’re smart about the way you design and layout your code, you will help the spiders to crawl your site which in the long run will increase your traffic.
