I've been suffering a bit from writers block lately. Every blogger will tell you that it's very hard to stay focused on one topic for years. Things get old and boring kinda quick. That's why most blogs crash and burn.
I've been surfing around and compiling a list of my favorite and inspiring blogs and posts. I stumbled on this one called Essential Posts that Every Blogger Should Know. Great stuff in there. Lots of other helpful information on the North East blog. Good stuff.
Having great content is not enough. With the explosion of blogs, you are just a small fish in a huge pond...why should anyone read your blog. Most of my favorite blogs I read because I like the writer's tone and what they have to say.

A lot of bloggers feel they need to post every day. This is not really the case. Don’t post, just to get something posted. Post something that will be valuable.
It’s better to post once a week if they are great posts. But seven mediocre posts doesn’t benefit anyone. You also don’t want your blog to get stale.
It’s up to you to find the happy medium. Keep your posting in line with your schedule. Don’t over do it. Just post great articles, even if it means less frequency.
Yeah, right. After having my blogs for over a year now, I’ve definitely discovered how much work it can be. It really can get challenging to come up with ideas to write on multiple topics. Especially every day.
So, I’ve compiled a list of things I’d Rather be doing than blogging:
* Spending time with my family
* Playing frisbee with my dog
* Playing my guitar
* Riding my bike
* Drinking beer
* Cashing my AdSense check
* Pulling my teeth out with a vice-grips read more »

SEOmoz posted his slides from a presentation they did at SES. Check out the slides http://www.seomoz.org/2006/sanjose-linkbait.html, lots of great information here.
You too can turn your site into a link bait site.

Article submission sites are becoming more popular. The idea is you write an article, submit it to an article submission site and they publish it. When readers read the article, they follow the link back to your site. Depending on the site, you can usually gain quite a bit of traffic this way.

I often get asked the question, how many articles should I have on my blog? The answer to that is, there is no answer. The more the better. I’ve heard a blog with 200 articles is pretty decent. But why would you ever stop?
You always want to post to your blog. Google loves sites that have fresh content. In a perfect world, one article per day would be ideal. But if you can’t do one a day, just remain consistent.

There definitely is a science to writing for a blog. You want to entertain your readers as well as be informative. If you are too dry or boring, no one will want to read your stuff. But if you are goofy, sarcastic and ad a little bit of your own sense of humor to your writing. More people will read it.
Don’t ramble on too long. You want your posts to be about 300 to 500 words. Don’t write a book each time. Remember, that when people are surfing and searching for information, they skim and want to find things quickly and easily. read more »
