Where Should I Place My Ads?

That is the million dollar question: Where Should I Place My Ads? There is a ton of info out there on where to place your ads on your pages. I personally use the heat map on Google Adsense for my bible. Why would Google steer you wrong?

There is a thing called ad blindness. How many pages do you go to that have a banner ad right at the top? How many times have you clicked it? Or on the right hand side of the page? Or at the very bottom?

I personally like to put my ads above the fold as close to my content as possible. I make my ads part of my site. I put them where users will consider them useful and not obtrusive. I make them look like navigation, content, menus, etc.

The key is to put them in spots that will get clicked. Don’t just throw them up any ol place. Like I said earlier, study the Google Adsense heat map and use this information to your advantage.
